North Ouest : CPDM on the Alert
As the militants put up their campaign strategies, they are not unaware that the other political parties are not sleeping on their laurels. The CPDM is on the watch out as the ball rolls. The publication of the final lists by Elecam has reaffirmed the party’s position in the region to the dismay of the other opposition parties who are now struggling to reap where they did not sow. According to Dr. Nwana Sama Bernard, chargé de mission for the North West Regional Permanent Delegation of the Central Committee, “we care to do what is right as the leading party in our region. Four political parties are running for the election in the North West and the CPDM so far has the highest number of councilors. There is no doubt that the other parties will seek to infiltrate us. To avert this, we must demonstrate a spirit of maturity and vigilance as recommended by the Secretary General Jean Nkuété,” he said. All of this is within a context where the militants are looking forward to the celebration of the party’s anniversary on March 24 to be followed by the elections on March 25. In the Ngoketunjia III section Babessi, the militants are working towards the consolidation of CPDM achievements in the area. According to the Section President David Chindong “we have scheduled a meeting to take place on March 17. This meeting is aimed at setting up modalities for the senatorial elections. Our councilors are going to be part of this meeting and the reason is simple, we are aware that the opposition especially the SDF is trying to infiltrate our ranks and this meeting will be an occasion to keep all our militants on the alert.” The CPDM in the North West Region has 44 councilors more than the SDF which desperately wants to sway the balance in its favor. The CPDM knows better and is doing everything to secure its interest.
